INSTALLATION
For Defender lift kits, Range Rover lift kits, Discovery 5 lift kits, LR3, LR4 lift kits, L320 lift kits, l322 lift kits, L405 lift kits and all other model Land Rovers. Johnson Rods are designed to replace your existing height sensor rods to lift or lower your vehicle using the existing air suspension system. They can be installed in 30 minutes to one hour and require no special tools other than a car jack. The height sensor rods are attached to one end of the plastic sensor arm and the other end to a metal peg that is welded to the frame. By using a small pry tool and some lubricant, they can be gently removed from the peg. After the stock parts are removed, simply slip on the Johnson Rods. Repeat this step for all four of the sensors.
One way to access the height sensor rods while in normal height mode is to use a vehicle jack to lift and remove the rear wheel to gain access. While the rear is lifted on one side, the front can be changed without removing the front wheel. After the Johnson Rods are installed on all four sensors, start the car, close the door, and adjust to the new normal height mode. The new normal height will be on a full-time basis. Off road height can still be selected which will provide additional lift subject to the built-in speed restriction that lowers it back to the new normal height when exceeded.
Ask your local dealer or independent mechanic shop to install Johnson Rods. The labor charge should be about one hour plus an alignment. If you select to install them yourself, review your vehicle manual on how to safely jack your vehicle and remove a wheel. Always use safety precautions when working around your vehicle including working on a dry level surface.
